Frequently Asked Questions

We've tried to answer a few of our most commonly asked questions below.  Autism is a very complex issue and we are only as a society beginning to scratch the surface of this spectrum of conditions.  Given this it is perhaps no surprise that there are many differing views on the subject.  All views below and in consultation are those of our organisation unless otherwise attributed.  We'd welcome any further and more in depth questions and you can contact us on twitter or via our Contact page.

Why should we train our staff around Autism?

Why indeed there's lot's of training out there why spend your training budget on autism awareness?  Well, when you consider that the latest prevalence studies of autism indicate that 1.1% of the population in the UK may have autism, that's a fair chunk of your customers or even your employees. That's just over 1 in 100 people in the UK, (see what we did there?) and as there is no statutory requirement for anyone to collect numbers, this could be a very conservative estimate.  Let's put that in terms of your employees, what about your customers?  How many of them do you think are affected either directly or indirectly by these conditions? The truth is you'll never know for sure but, you can be sure that your staff understand and know how to make situations easier for those on the autism spectrum and their families and carers when dealing with your business.  At the heart of the training just as at the heart of autism spectrum conditions, is the fact that good communication, patience, understanding and clarity are all ways in which we can help those on the autism spectrum and those supporting them.  How many of those values appear in your organisation's mission statement, company aims and values, etc?  The techniques learned in our training apply to all and create a working environment that helps your staff and other customers as well as those on the autism spectrum and therefore ultimately help your business.

Do you supply the venue?

All of our training programmes are bespoke and begin with a free consultation to establish exactly what your needs and wants are.  Whilst for the most part organisations who speak to us prefer to make use of long arrangements they have with venues they use regularly, we are happy to arrange venue bookings ourselves. There is a small admin charge per booking and of course the cost of any venue and supplement services will be passed on.  Click on our contact page and let's discuss your needs.

Can you help with an employee on the autism spectrum?

Yes, all our services begin with a free consultation to establish exactly what your organisation needs from our training and what goals you want to acheive.  If one of those goals is to help someone on the spectrum make the most of being employed by you and you of employing them, then we're in!  The reason we offer such a bespoke service, is because no situation is the same just like no two people on the autism spectrum are the same.

How much will the training cost?

The cost will depend on your needs.  There are 3 levels of service available from AWARE - which is a basic 2 hour to one day basic awareness training starting as little as £150 per hour, CONSCIOUS - a far more in-depth training course, tailored to your organisations agreed goals and needs, through to WORKING - Intense training programmes and culture change, assistance with existing employees on the autism spectrum and/or assistance with search and employment of people on the autism spectrum.  We are a completely bespoke service so don't offer a one size fits all solution.  After all your organisation is one of a kind, as are each of your employees, customers and people on the autism spectrum.  Why not use our contact page to book a free, no obligation initial consultation?  Let's make our training solutions fit around your needs.
